Corner Kuringa Drive and Barton Highway
This pleasant spring ride includes an overnight stop in the pretty town of Binalong.
This social weekend ride is being held on the weekend of 11/12 November 2017. It can also be done as a one way ride (either way), depending on your transport support. Non-riders are welcome for the dinner and/or transport or gear assistance, if some riders desire.
This spring tour has been running since the early 80’s, and is a self paced ride from Canberra to Binalong via Murrumbateman for morning tea, Yass for lunch, Bowning for a drink stop, and on to Binalong. Popular route variations are used e.g. the Nanima Road, Dog Trap road, the back way to Bowning and using the old Burley Griffin Way towards Binalong, while when required the main road has good space left of the white line.
Overnight stay is at the pretty town of Binalong, at the Royal Tara Motel and rooms have been reserved. The stay includes dinner and breakfast. Sunday is the return ride, essentially the reverse of the Saturday, with maybe a stop at the Namina road chocolate shop.
The ride is about 90km each way and typically takes 4-5 hours riding each day. It is not a hard ride and suits most riders who can ride for a few hours and can average around 20km/h, however it is a reasonable duration and distance. Of course quicker riders also welcome. You need to be self sufficient for the weekend, within a supportive group. Costs are pay as you go.
If you have any questions, or wish to enjoy the ride, please contact Peter or Judy Stevenson on email@example.com, or 0417 289 445 (Peter), or 0402 725 449 (Judy), preferably by 2 November.
