Lake Tuggeranong - Car park near Sea Scouts Hall
Various rides around the suburbs of southern Canberra – grade EX to MXX. Thursday Social Rides provide an easy-paced 15-22 km/h ride starting in the TuggeranongValley. Most rides are around 2 to 2.5 hours riding time.
Monthly ride schedule (subject to weather conditions):
1st Thursday – suburban bike paths in Tuggeranong (EX to EXX)
2nd Thursday – the largely on-road loop through Tharwa and Point Hut Crossing (MXX)
3rd Thursday – suburban bike paths in Woden, Weston Creek and South Canberra (EX to EXX), leading to the Arboretum, Museum, etc (EX to EXX)
4th Thursday – Off-road, generally on fire trails adjacent to suburbs in Tuggeranong, Woden, Weston Creek (MXX)
5th Thursday (4 – 5 times per year) – excursion route to be determined, sometimes with a different start point
We will aim to have coffee at a local venue along the way. Total distance of about 25-40 km. The ride leader will take the group mainly on bike paths, footpaths and fire trails, with some on-road riding using quieter streets or cycle lanes.
Please note –usually a leader accredited by Pedal Power will be available to lead the ride. The ride leader will not necessarily be the ‘event organiser’ shown below who puts the ride on the calendar and fields enquiries. If no accredited ride leader is available, those present may organise their own ride, but that will not be a programmed Pedal Power ride.
