We have a sign in the Pedal Power ACT office that reads ‘Before you complain… have you volunteered yet?’
Pedal Power ACT relies on the hard work of our incredible volunteers across all levels of the organisation – from advocacy to events and everything in between.
This week is National Volunteer Week, and we want to take the opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has given their time to help Pedal Power ACT achieve the aim of getting more Canberrans on bikes.
The ACT Volunteer Awards were held on Monday night, and Pedal Power ACT’s Jeff Ibbotson and Gillian Helyar were nominated for their work in bringing the Cycling Without Age program to Canberra.
Also from the Canberra cycling community, Mark Bell won the ‘Go Beyond’ award for volunteering 600 hours of time to rebuild the BMX Tuggeranong track. The Technical Aid to the Disabled ACT (TADACT) Cycle Solutions team was also nominated for one of the Volunteer Awards. A full list of the award winners is available here.
A very big thank you to everyone who volunteers their time and energy to help more people enjoy riding a bike in the ACT.
