An opportunity to learn about cycling infrastructure

News, Rider alert Off 174

bike rider on bike pathPedal Power has been invited by Transport Directorate to participate in a two-day training course
covering all aspects of designing infrastructure for walking and cycling.

The course will cover design standards and practical considerations specific to the ACT and will be a
mixture of tutorials, field work and workshop exercises.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn about best practice and meet some of the key players in the
field in the ACT.

Pedal Power is offering one of our members a place on this course. Like any professional development opportunity, these courses are quite expensive so we are grateful that the cost has been fully covered by the ACT Government through the Paul Truebridge scholarship. The successful candidate will be expected to join Pedal Power’s Advocacy Group and use their experience and knowledge gained, to advance our objective of improving cycling infrastructure.

This course would suit a member who has an interest in good design and urban planning. You do
not need to be formally qualified in these areas to participate.

If you are interested, and are available for two days (22 and 23 May), please send an expression of
interest to Richard Bush at r.h.bush@bigpond.net.au.
