Pedal Power ACT is happy to be involved with the ACT Government’s inaugural Canberra Walk & Ride Week, 17-24 March 2017.
This exciting initiative is the first of its type in Australia. The Government is encouraging Canberrans to walk, ride and catch public transport as often as possible during the week.
Using a bike for transport is an easy, fun and efficient way to incorporate regular physical activity into your daily routine. It helps to keep you fit and healthy, provides a sense of happiness, health and wellbeing, contributes to a more liveable city and connects you with your local community.
The Government wants to provide better walking and cycling infrastructure for all Canberrans, and are encouraging people who participate in active travel during the week to download an app to log their activities.
The app, ACTiveLog, uses GPS traces to track walking and cycling activities of those who download and use it. Data collected will provide a picture of where, how and when Canberrans walk and cycle as a mode of transport. The more the ACT Government understands how Canberrans move about our city on foot and by bike, the more informed their decision making processes will be for future infrastructure and facility investments.
Following the conclusion of Canberra Walk and Ride Week, we want to help you to keep up the good habits you started.
Sign up for Cycle Works, our new program aimed at getting more Canberrans using their bikes as transport. Set goals, and during April ride as much as you can to win challenges, rewards and most importantly – bragging rights.
