Each year, Pedal Power ACT conducts a cordon count around each of the ACT’s town centres to collect information to provide to the ACT Government. A cordon count is a vehicle and person survey that details time related data around the flow of traffic. The information collated is able to assist in the planning and design of our transportation system.

Pedal Power ACT conducts a cordon count to identify the number of people walking and riding into and out of the ACT’s town centres.

In order to successfully conduct a cordon count as accurately as possible, we require volunteers (to be paid $25/hour) to register their interest and nominate a town centre they’d like to count from.

The date and time for each town centre’s cordon count is:

Town centre Date of count in 2017 Times of count
Tuggeranong town centre Wednesday 1 March 2017 7:00 am to 10:00 am
4:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Gungahlin town centre Thursday 2 March 2017 7:00 am to 10:00 am
4:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Civic town centre and the
ANU campus
Tuesday 7 March 2017 7:00 am to 10:00 am
4:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Woden town centre Wednesday 8 March 2017 7:00 am to 10:00 am
4:00 pm to 7:00 pm
Belconnen town centre and the
University of Canberra campus
Thursday 9 March 2017 7:00 am to 10:00 am
4:00 pm to 7:00 pm

To be accepted as part of the project you must have a smart phone or tablet and load the data collection application and use it for collating data.

If you are interested, please register for each town centre you want to count at or send an email to office@pedalpower.org.au.

Places are limited, so first in will be given priority.
