A joint venture of CORC and Pedal Power ACT, the 2013 Centenary Trail Blaze is a 130k off-road cycle event staged over 2 days, Saturday 30 November and Sunday 1 December. A mass participation event rather than a competition, it will showcase the newly commissioned Canberra Centenary Trail and its environs. The 2 stages will be on good quality fire roads and shared paths with gentle grades, suitable for cyclists with basic off-road riding skills. Approximately 75% of the road surfaces are unpaved, but are suitable for any mountain bike and most other bicycles with the right tyres. Interaction with motor traffic is minimal, confined to a few road crossings. Each stage of the event is a loop of approximately 65k:
- Stage 1: Southern Loop, Sat 30 Nov – Blundells Cottage to Tuggeranong & return;
- Stage 2: Northern Loop, Sun 01 Dec – Blundells Cottage to Hall & return.

A printed guidebook will be provided to paid participants, containing maps and highlighting points of cultural and historical significance along the route. The website will provide a number of downloadable GPS trace files which riders with a compatible device can use for navigation.

Sounds awesome. I’m really looking forward to this event. When do entries open?
They should be opening early in July – keep an eye on the website. We’ll put something up on the front page as soon as they are open
