Curious Canberra, an initiative by ABC Canberra, received a question by one of their audience members in relation to riding a bike on a foot path – is there a speed limit?
Pedal Power ACT was approached to assist with responding to the query. John Armstrong (Executive Officer) and some of our previous New Horizons participants and current instructors were featured in the piece. The feature covered the legal speed limit for riding a bike on a footpath, legal obligations when pedestrians are involved, and proper riding etiquette to maximise the safety of all users.
And to answer the Curious Canberra question in short, the legal speed limit for a bike on a footpath in Canberra is 50 km/h.[vimeo]https://vimeo.com/165382406[/vimeo]
