Meeting

Our recent Annual General Meeting provided an opportunity to recognise members who have contributed towards the success of the organisation, elected members to the Pedal Power ACT Board and most of all – celebrate the continued success the organisation is building upon each year.

We are saddened, but would like to congratulate outgoing President, Gillian Helyar on her significant contribution to Pedal Power ACT over the past 12 months. Jane Brookes was successfully elected as our new President, and brings a lot of experience to the role.

Jane is well respected within our community, and will build on the efforts of Gillian in ensuring Pedal Power ACT continues to work towards our goals.

Other people elected to the Board for two years were Eric Huttner, Steve Shaw, Douglas Widdup and John Widdup while Vicki Deakin was elected to the Board for one year.

In a big moment for Pedal Power ACT, and for the first time in 15 years, we also saw the awarding of honorary life memberships.

Annemarie Driver (posthumous), June Hornby, Jeff Ibbotson, Doug Thompson, Silke Smaglinski, Luke Wensing, Marie Wensing, John Widdup and Julia Widdup were all recognised and awarded with life memberships for their outstanding contributions to Pedal Power ACT over the years.

Roger Bacon was also awarded with an honorary one year membership.

The major award winners during the evening were:

  • John Widdup – The Paul Truebridge Memorial Volunteer of the Year award
  • Social & Information Nights – Event of the Year award
  • The Tassie Tour – Event of the Year award
  • Gillian Helyar – Leadership award
  • Bryan Kalms – Service award
  • Natasha Beckmann – Service award

The minutes of the Annual General Meeting are now available for public viewing.
