Pedal Power ACT welcomed Rachel Lynskey to its team this week as the organisation’s new Membership Officer.
Rachel, whose role will provide an increased service offering for the Pedal Power community, will involve signing up new members to the organisation and ensuring that they are aware of the benefits that Pedal Power has to offer the cycling community.
“Pedal Power has a range of benefits to offer its members including 24/7 insurance cover, social events and rides that are on throughout the community, as well as a range of great discounts offered at bike shops and cafes around Canberra,” Rachel said.
Within her position as Membership Officer, Rachel wants to make sure that all members are aware of the role Pedal Power plays in the cycling community.
“We do advocacy on the cyclist’s behalf, which means better cycling for the community including upgraded and new cycle lanes, as well as increased safety for families who cycle on the weekend, those who ride to work and also cyclists competing in events around Canberra.
“Through this role my aims are to grow the Pedal Power membership base and create a diverse atmosphere for cycling in the ACT.”
Rachel has a background in sustainability and a passion for the environment and climate change. Her background will come in handy throughout her role as a membership officer for Pedal Power and she hopes to meet new people in the environmental industry.
“It will be great to work with partner groups on sustainability, but it is also worthwhile to show the community the importance of sustainable transport and reducing our carbon footprint.”
