Speak up! What is the future for Majura Pines?

The ACT Government is seeking community feedback on the future use of Majura Pines as a recreation venue for mountain bike riding, trail running as well as other recreational pursuits in Canberra’s north.

Following recent forestry operations and construction of the Majura Parkway, Majura Pines currently has around 10 km of fire trails and short sections of unlinked informal trails providing recreational opportunities for the community.

Construction on the Majura Parkway has opened an an opportunity to undertake improvements within Majura Pines to formalise the area for recreation use. The aim is to identify corridors where a planned trail network can be established as well as opportunities for other facilities that may include parking, toilets, water points, seating, shelter and signage.

They are also seeking interest in the proposed establishment of a Majura Pines Track Working Group to play a key role with on-ground work to maintain the integrity of the Majura Pines recreational area through organised volunteer activities – similar to that of a Parkcare group.

Feedback is invited from the community to help develop a draft concept plan for the area that will guide future improvements to the trail network and construction of new facilities.
