Tips for cycling safely near light rail

Canberra Metro has provided the following info for cycling safely near light rail.

  • It is safe to ride across the tracks. It is safe to walk on the tracks.
  • If you are cycling near the light rail, take care not to get your wheels stuck in the rail groove. Look out for the tracks on the road and cross at a right-angle. Where possible, avoid braking whilst on rail tracks.
  • Do not ride immediately adjacent to the rail track as cycle wheels may be caught in the rail groove.
  • Be sure to remain well clear of light rail vehicles.
