The Fitability Tandem Program, part of Pedal Power ACT, will run a Tandem Come and Try event on Saturday 16 September from 1:30pm to 3:30pm.
The Fitability Tandem Cycling program offers tandem cycling opportunities principally to vision impaired people in the Canberra region, as well as to those with other disabilities who would otherwise be unable to cycle independently.
Participants are asked to meet at the bus stop beside the National Museum of Australia, Lawson Crescent, Acton Peninsula, Canberra.
There will be a number of trained tandem riders at the event who will ride with you in a safe, off-road or back-street environment, and look after steering, navigation and braking.
This will open doors for you to get some exercise, meet people and have fun. If you have ridden tandem before this may also be an opportunity to polish your skills.
It is open to vision-impaired adults of all ages and cycling ability and older children (with consent from a responsible adult).
If you enjoy riding on the Come and Try event you may wish to join in regular social rides and other cycling events on tandems.
Tandem bikes will be provided.
If you need a lift to the venue please let us know so that we can arrange transport.
Please get in touch if you would like to know more about the event or about tandem riding and the Fitability Program. You can also have a look at their website at www.fitability.org.au.
