Contact: Jenny Cleaver for more information

Saturday 16th December

Meet at the Rock Garden carpark, Yarramundi Reach off Lady Denman Dr (next to the Lake, near the entrance to the Arboretum) at 8.15 for an 8.30 departure. We will follow the Lake until the ANU turnoff. Through ANU to the main cycle path through the inner north. Past North Lyneham to Kaleen and Lake Ginninderra, where we will stop at Cafe Birrigai. Continuing with the far side of Lake Ginninderra, then we’ll take the main cycle route past Macquarie, back to Lake Burley Griffin and to our start. All on cycle paths, and the direction allows us to go gently up, with the fun downhill along Bindubi St at the end. 33 km

Please note: No rides over the Christmas break (23/12 & 30/12). Have a lovely holiday and we’ll see you next year.

General Information

Further Horizons is a cycling group aiming at graduates of New Horizons, to keep them riding in a supportive and non-competitive atmosphere.
We generally ride 30 – 40km at an average speed of 15 – 19km/hr, and mostly on cycle paths or quiet roads. We continue the New Horizons behaviours by continuing to ride on Saturday mornings, calling out about approaching riders/pedestrians or problems to the others in the group, and we have a clear leader and tail to keep the group together.
Each week has a new leader and a different route, allowing participants to explore parts of Canberra that they wouldn’t otherwise ride, and to share routes that they know and love. Participants are not limited to New Horizons graduates, but people interested in joining should understand that we travel as a group, with frequent stops, and with the emphasis on socialising and having fun.

Starting Place & Time

The starting place and time may be different each week so check the top of this page for information on the next ride.
