Course Requirements

To participate in New Horizons you need:

  • a bicycle in good working order;
  • a helmet that is under 3 years old, undamaged and complies with the Australian/New Zealand standards;
  • to be able to ride a bike (but that need not be very far or with much confidence);
  • willing to learn by participation;
  • to want to improve riding knowledge techniques and proficiency.

“I was encouraged to participate by a friend so I would learn what I needed for safe confident cycling. I’m so glad I took her advice. New Horizons has opened up a new world of fitness and fun. The New Horizons team took us back to basics, then built on our skills each week. I’m now confident to pack up my bike and see the world!”

“Had a great time all round and am raring to go with more biking adventures and the pleasure of sharing my experience. Now I am into competitive mountain bike riding with my son and friends.”

“Just amazed how after each week I am getting fitter, and it’s such a fun and supportive group to be part of… Now I concentrate on checking tyres and can change them myself from go to whoa. It took an hour but I did it… I did not ride in the rain before. And I now ride to work.”

“I can now change tyres successfully thanks to the New Horizons. And they taught me what to do and gave me the confidence to have a go — knowing that l could do it. So to you all, if l can do it, everyone can!”
