Cycle Well is a tailored cycle tuition course for adults who want to learn how to ride a bike. The lessons are led by a trained instructor, and you will be assessed at the first lesson to ensure you get the level of training that is right for you.
The Cycle Well program was initiated through a grant from Sport and Recreation Services but it has proved to be so successful in getting new riders onto their bikes that Pedal Power ACT will conduct this program in an ongoing basis from its own funds. Using qualified instructors and enthusiastic support from great volunteers, the program provides an excellent and supportive introduction for novice riders.
Training focuses on:
- Improving confidence
- Taking first steps towards cycling on roads
- Learning basic skills and getting to know your bicycle
Lessons take place in a non-traffic environment, with the focus on supporting you to learn at your own pace. The lessons are usually an hour long and are held over 5 consecutive weekends. Bikes are available for hire (at a small cost) if you don’t have your own.
The next course runs from 6 November – 4 December 2016. More information on Cycle Well.

Not quite right for you?
If Cycle Well sounds too basic for you – we have a more advanced learn to ride program, New Horizons. New Horizons is tailored for existing bike riders who know how to ride but want to build confidence and skills on their bike.
