FIRST WANDERERS (45 to 60+ km @ 18-22km/h average speed):

Sunday December 17 – 7.45 for 8am start Dickson College car park.  Rosemary will lead a longer excursion ride to Googong of 72 km with a surprise morning tea at Googong at the 40 Km mark.  The route will travel through the northern suburbs to Jerrabomberra, Edwin Land Parkway, Cooma Road to Googong. The route back is via the Pialligo Road, Fairbairn Avenue, Limestone Avenue, and Majura Road. The route mainly involves highway with wide verges or good bicycle paths.  The exception is about 1 kilometre on the old Cooma Road where there is no verge.  There is one significant hill going south up the Cooma Road towards Googong.

Please note: There will be NO official First Wanderers rides on 24 or 31 December.  We will return on 7 January with an easy shorter ride led by Amanda to encourage new riders, or those who overindulged over Christmas!

WANDERERS 23 (60 to 80+ km @ 21-25km/h average speed):

Sunday December 17 – 7.45 for 8am start Dickson College car park.  Ian will lead the ride from Dickson to  Lake George via the Old Federal Highway, returning via the Federal Highway, Shingle Hill, Sutton Road, Federal Highway (74Kms return).  Coffee will be at the Sutton Bakery.

Please note: If there are sufficient starters on Sunday 24th Kate has offered to lead a ride from Dickson, otherwise the next W23 ride will be on 7 January.  There is no southside ride this month.


INTERMEDIATE (70 to 90+ km @ 23-26 km/h average speed):

Sunday December 17 – 7.15 for 7.30am start Dickson College car park. This Sunday’s ride is a loop to Baker At Sutton Café via Barton Hwy, Nanima, Murrumbateman & Sutton Rds, returning via East Tallagandra Lane & Mulligan’s Flat Rd (approx 85kms return).


FAST INTERMEDIATE (80 to 100+ km @ 27-30 km/h average speed):

Sunday Wanderer rides are longer rides (45 kms to 100 kms +) on sealed roads around the Canberra region.

More details

  • Ride  on sealed roads around the Canberra region including a café stop.
  • Riders with adequate fitness and stamina for the group selected are most welcome.
  • Groups wait for slower riders to catch up.
  • Café stops include Gundaroo, Gunning, Murrumbateman, Bungendore, Queanbeyan, Tharwa and local wineries.
  • Normally finished by around lunch time.
