Description: I prefer to ride around Lake Burley Griffin in an anti-clockwise direction simply because I think the scenic views are better. Head right on the cycleway on leaving the bike hire shop and continue along the lake foreshore until you reach a point where the path divides, the right arm, the way you should go, heading through a tunnel.
(If you have an interest in local history it is worth cycling straight ahead towards the site of the Royal Canberra Hospital. A heritage notice-board along the track says that as long ago as 1835, a stone and pise cottage was built on the site of what was the hospital's forecourt. It was called Canberry Homestead.
