Starting Point:Weston Park, Yarralumla.

Description:

A rather pleasant swimming spot. Despite the shallow water, it is still a nice place for a picnic, providing fine views across the Murrumbidgee River to the Brindabella Mountains. Barbecues and toilets are provided.

Follow the directions for the “Pine Island Ride”, but instead of turning right at the Athllon Drive underpass near Isabella Drive, turn left along Athllon Drive to the cycle path at the Drakeford Drive roundabout, where you turn right. Follow the Drakeford Drive path south to the roundabout at Woodcock Drive. Turn right along the cycle path to the Point Hut Crossing turn-off. A short ride past the Point Hut Pond on the left leads down a steep hill to the Murrumbidgee River and the Point Hut crossing. Return the same way or take the narrow footpath along the river bank downstream for about 5km to Pine Island and return from there.

Points along the way afford excellent views across the Murrumbidgee Valley towards the Brindabella Mountains.
