Route Description:
You can get to Majura Pines from Majura Lane, which runs north south on the east side of the Mt Ainslie - Mt Majura ridge. Either carry your bike on a car to the turnoff from Majura Lane into the property called "Innabanya", or cycle from central Canberra, along the bicycle path next to Morshead Drive, then left at the roundabout by the bridge over the Molonglo River, and north up Majura Lane.
A more interesting route is to start at the Australian War Memorial, and take the "Mt Ainslie and Mt Majura Ride" to the crest of the ridge between Mt Ainslie and Mt Majura. From here the track descends steeply to the "Mineshaft", a long gruelling uphill track to the left. You can either follow this track or try any of the other tracks in this forest.
This is a popular area so watch out for speeding cyclists. It would be wise to use the tracks in the direction shown by the arrows, to avoid head on collisions.
When you've had enough fun, just head back up to the ridge and continue along the "Mt Ainslie and Mt Majura Ride" back to the War Memorial.
