Pedal Power was proud to be a part of the Her way bike riding forum this week. It was great to see a full house of new riders. Participants enjoyed a great night, with Pedal Power board member Linda Laker discussing social rides and motivation, and Marisa Paterson MLA discussing the Her Way initiative, which supports women to take up cycling for transport. ACT Policing shared the best way we can protect and secure our bikes, and cycling enthusiasts, Amanda and Emma shared their riding journey, and tips and tricks to riding around our city.
Trek bikes gave us a great run down on simple ways to be seen and stay safe when riding, and a raffle that saw 6 participants walk away with new bike light sets and 2 lucky winners scoring Bontrager helmets!
Thank you Trek! SEE-Change provided an e-bike demo which was very well received, and participants also had the chance to try out a bus bike rack.
Following on from the forum, we are putting together a Her Way Fitz’s Challenge training group for the Fitz’s Challenge, scheduled for Sunday 30 October. Fitz’s is not a race, but a personal challenge, taking in the spectacular scenery of the Brindabella’s.
The Her Way training group will train together in a supportive group, preparing for the 50km ride. Imagine yourself crossing the Fitz’s finish line this October!
Full details about Fitz’s are available HERE.
Please reply to communications@pedalpower.org.au before Wednesday 15 June to express your interest in joining the ‘Her Way Fitz’s Challenge’ group. Pending interest, we’ll develop a program with dedicated ride leader/s, support and other training materials and information to help you along the way.
