For many, the Fitz’s 50 km Tidbinbilla Challenge is their first cycling event. For others, they ride the 50 every year, for the love of the views, the hills (what goes up must come down!) and the unbeatable feeling of being part of something special.
Riders of the 50 enjoy the descent of the three sisters into the Murrumbidgee River valley, where they cross the mighty ‘Bidgee and head towards Uriarra Homestead. From there, they turn towards the Cotter for another exhilarating descent down Mt McDonald, passing the Cotter Dam.
Climb out of the Cotter and pass through the Pierces Creek Forest to reach the Gravel Pit turnaround for a well-earned break with snacks and drinks available. Retrace your steps back to the Cotter, crossing the Murrumbidgee again before climbing out of the river valley via Cotter Rd back to Stromlo.
