Come along and hear from Bronwyn Asquith about her trip to Europe!
Over the past European Summer, once again bikers from all over the continent took to the road for a cycling holiday and a ‘pedal’ across the continent – as far as the Ukrainian war allowed. From everywhere, locals took advantage of the open borders, perfect weather and wonderful cafe culture to enjoy their Summer break in the best possible way – by bike.
A small group from Canberra decided to join this newly-emerging Summer migration and ride a leg of the Eurovelo 2 Capital Route. “On hired bikes and a support vehicle, we rode on cycleways and roads from Amsterdam to Berlin – 870 km over 18 days.” Says Bronwyn “We started at the city canals of Amsterdam, we moved east across the Netherlands, passed windmills and sunflowers to Vreden and the German border. From there, we traveled across the lower Saxony region and medieval townships of Munster, Goslar and Wittenburg – home of Martin Luther. By day 18, we visited Potsdam and its ancient palaces and rode to Berlin and the Brandenburg Gate”.
