Mark your diaries: on Tuesday 20 September, John Widdup will present the ride and the details of the Out and Back Tour accompanied by magic lantern slides.
The twenty tour participants intended to ride from Port Augusta to the Gulf of Carpentaria, but closed roads in the far north of South Australia and southwestern Queensland resulted in them riding to Maree, across the Gammon Ranges to Arkaroola, then south to Morgan on the Murray River and along the River to Mildura – camping all the way. It was 1,400 km with 1,000 km on gravel and soil.
John will discuss the preparation, logistics, roads travelled, countryside, people met, watering and feeding, bikes used, punctures, costs, and more.
There will be plenty of time for discussion after the presentation.
