Pedal Power members are celebrating the launch of the ACT Government’s draft Active Travel Plan, with key path links and priority infrastructure captured within the plan.
Pedal Power consulted our members widely ahead of developing our submission to the 2022-23 ACT Budget. Members provided feedback on a range of measures that would improve their cycling experiences across Canberra. This feedback included new paths, better path connections, a maintenance plan for the existing path network, and secure bike parking at regional centres.
We are pleased to see the majority of our members’ recommendations are included in the government’s plan.
The recent launch of the draft Active Travel Plan represents a culmination of many years of advocacy work by Pedal Power, and is set to significantly improve cycling conditions for Canberrans.
Consultation around the draft plan is now open. Pedal Power will provide a formal submission, however we urge all our members to review the plan and provide feedback via the interactive map and the online survey. The plan and feedback mechanisms are available HERE.
Pedal Power members will also have the opportunity to put questions to Transport Minister Chris Steel directly, at our member forum on Thursday 28 July from 7pm to 8.30pm. The forum will be held at the Ainslie Football Club. The event is free, however we ask people to please register, and please consider wearing a mask on the night.
