Further Horizons has the aim of keeping Pedal Power New Horizons Programme graduates riding in a supportive and non-competitive atmosphere, although all riders are most welcome. Rides generally 30 to 40 kms at an average speed of 15 to 19 km/h, and mostly on cycle paths or quiet roads. A new leader and a different route each week (with a different starting point).
Ride details (starting point, starting time and route) will be updated below a few days before each ride.
NEXT RIDE DETAILS (23/10/21):
Meet at Eddison Park carpark, off Launceston St, Phillip, at 8.15 for an 8.30 start.
We will ride past the Mint toward Yarralumla, then back along quiet roads through Deakin, Forrest and Barton, admiring the gardens. Down to the Lake, then up New Parliament House and down the other side. Follow the Lake to reach Yarralumla Gallery and Oaks Brasserie for coffee. Back via the Lake edge to Curtin then Phillip. 32 km mostly on cycle paths with some quiet roads.
Rarely, if an accredited ride leader is not available to lead a ride, those gathering at the starting point can organise a ride of their choice, but the ride will not be a programmed Pedal Power ACT ride.
Please respect that our ride leaders are volunteers. They take all care when conducting a ride but in the end are not responsible for the actions of individual riders. Your ride reader may cancel a ride, or request a rider not participate.
Anyone is eligible to join our social rides. You do not have to be a Pedal Power ACT member, however, we recommend you join so that you are covered by our member insurance. Our insurance provides personal accident and public liability cover any time you ride, anywhere in the world.
