Fitz’s Challenge has many hills and can be a long day on the bike. It is an endurance event.
To enjoy your ride, and get the best out of the event, you should ride with care, adhere to an eating and fluid plan, and take the opportunity to rest and refresh at each checkpoint.
Associate Professor Vicki Deakin has created three nutritional plans to help: riders train, successfully complete the challenge, and also recover.
Nutrition plan before a long training ride
Nutrition plan for during training
Nutrition plan to help you successfully recover
Irrespective of your age, level of ride fitness, the distance you usually ride in training and the distance you choose to ride for the Fitz’s Challenge, you need to have a Nutrition Plan (i.e. food and fluid intake plan) that suits your individual physiology and training.
