How do you stay motivated to stay active during a Canberra winter? In the middle of a pandemic? With events across the country being postponed or cancelled, it is understandable to see motivation waning. Those flannelette sheets just seem extra snuggly and warm when it is so cold and wet outside, don’t they? I know you understand 😉
At Pedal Power ACT, we had been planning this year’s Fitz’s Challenge to coincide with Sea Otter Australia’s inaugural Bike Fest, which has now been postponed to October 2022. Rather than cancel our event, we have switched focus to creating a local, COVID safe experience on Sunday 12 December 2021 at Stromlo Forest Park. We understand that the current COVID situation is changing every day, which is why you can register for our event with confidence, knowing you will receive a refund should you be unable to attend due to COVID related reasons.
The Fitz’s organising committee have got the maps and .gpx files updated and are pleased to announce this year’s event will have two new routes included – 130 km and 185 km. Each of the routes at Fitz’s Challenge is set to test a riders’ limits and those who are returning know that every year the experience is different. We also have training plans available online, to help get your training kickstarted or provide that extra bit of motivation if you feel yourself slipping into a slump.
In 2021 we are proudly supporting Fitability as our charity partner. Fitability is a volunteer run tandem cycling program which provides opportunities to Canberrans with vision impairments and other disabilities to experience the joy of cycling outdoors – including getting involved with Pedal Power events like Fitz’s Challenge! You can make tax deductable donations to Fitability when you sign up for your Fitz’s ride.

We cannot wait to welcome you to the 2021 edition of Fitz’s Challenge. The hills are calling!
