Choosing a ride

Want to explore Canberra by bike and meet like-minded people? Join us on one of our social rides!

Our rides vary from 20 km to over 100 km – so that everyone can find a ride they enjoy. We have rides of varying distance, pace, hilliness, skill and terrain, including off-road, path and road rides. All our rides are led by an accredited volunteer ride leader. Rides are free and non-competitive – we ride for fun and to share the experience with others!

Most rides include a stop at a café or to enjoy a view. They start from locations all over Canberra, so there is bound to be a social ride near you.

You do not have to be a Pedal Power member to join our rides. We aim to welcome new riders, however, due to demand some of our rides are fully subscribed.

What ride should I choose?

All our rides are graded so you can choose the ride that best suits your skill, fitness and the type of riding you like to do. Each ride is graded by the following characteristics:

  • distance – in km
  • pace – the average expected speed in km/h
  • hilliness – typical gradient as a %
  • terrain – path, road, gravel, track, singletrack
  • skill – novice, beginner, experienced, intermediate, expert

Ride gradings vary as routes change week to week. You can find the ride grading in the calendar entry.
