Before you book
Learning together makes the difference.
Big Skills for Small Bikes is designed for beginners who are not yet riding independently. Children learn in a supportive environment while parents and carers gain practical ways to keep helping at home.
Who it is for
Children aged 3 to 8
- Beginners who are still learning to ride without assistance
- One participating adult for every one or two children
- Families who want a calm, practical way to build confidence
What to bring
Your child's bike and helmet
- A balance bike or pedal bike for each child
- An Australian Standards helmet for each child
- A grown-up ready to attend and take part
- Adults do not need to bring a bike
How it works
Skills that continue after the course.
The course curriculum was developed by a Cycling Australia coach and gives both children and adults practical support.
Grown-ups take part
Parents and carers attend with their children, see the activities in action and learn how to provide helpful support.
Children build skills
Children practise in a supportive and inclusive environment designed for riders who are still finding their independence.
Learning goes home
Adults leave with practical skills and take-home resources to keep building confidence after the course.
