Why Ride2Work matters

One commute can change the rhythm of your day.

National Ride2Work Day is a simple invitation to try the trip by bike and discover what a more active commute can feel like.

01

Improve your wellbeing

Build regular physical activity into your day and arrive at work feeling energised.

02

Save time and money

Turn your commute into exercise while reducing spending on fuel, parking and public transport.

03

Reduce congestion and emissions

Every trip made by bike helps ease pressure on Canberra's roads and lowers transport emissions.

04

Create a bike-friendly Canberra

More people riding strengthens the case for safer routes, better connections and improved workplace bike facilities.

Prizes on the day

More reasons to ride in.

Canberra businesses are contributing prizes for the Ride2Work Day morning.

Make the first ride an easy one.

A little preparation can turn an unfamiliar commute into a route you will want to ride again.

  1. 01
    Choose your route

Plan the trip in advance and look for paths or quieter streets that suit your confidence.

  2. 02
    Check your bike

Make sure your tyres, brakes, lights and chain are ready before the morning of the ride.

  3. 03
    Prepare for work

Arrange what you will wear, carry and store so the morning feels straightforward.

  4. 04
    Ride with someone

Invite a colleague or ask Pedal Power's free Ride Guides program for route advice and a practice ride.
