"For the past thirty years, a small cycling club in Broken Hill, the Silver City Bush Treadlers, has organised an outback, mid-year ‘Dare’ bike ride which raises money for the Royal Flying Doctor Service, now closing in on one million dollars. Derek has taken part in the last four ‘Dare’ bike rides. He will talk about the character of these rides, including the outback environments, history, the operation of grazing properties and the camaraderie of cyclists on the track."
