Social Nights: Strength: The Missing Link in Cycling Performance

  • Southern Cross Club Woden 92-96 Corinna Street Phillip, ACT, 2606 Australia (map)

6:00 pm (Dinner Optional) for 7.30 pm start

Join us for our next Pedal Power Social Evening as presenters from Kieser Physiotherapy in Kingston unpack a question many cyclists overlook: could strength training be the key to riding stronger, longer, and pain-free?

Sophie Woodbridge, Arion Richter-Salter, and Connor McLean will present Strength: The Missing Link in Cycling Performance, exploring how targeted strength training can dramatically improve cycling performance, resilience, and long-term comfort on the bike.

From stronger climbing legs and better sprint power to fewer aches, improved posture, and reduced injury risk, the session will examine why more cyclists are incorporating physiotherapist-led strength work into their riding routines. The presenters will discuss the common imbalances created by long hours in the saddle and how strengthening the glutes, hamstrings, core, and upper body can improve efficiency both on and off the bike.

Whether you are training for long rides, commuting every day, getting back into cycling, or simply wanting to stay riding comfortably for years to come, this presentation will offer practical insights into how strength training supports better riding at every level.

Kieser Physiotherapy specialises in physio-led strength training to help people manage injuries, reduce pain, improve movement, and stay active doing what they love.

Questions and discussion will follow the presentation.
