Looking for Another Bike Library Coordinator
Are you passionate about assisting the local Canberra community and looking for a new volunteering opportunity? The Bike Library is seeking another 1-2 Coordinators available on Tuesdays to help keep one of our most loved community programs running smoothly.
This is a practical, people-focused role, ideal if you enjoy helping others, working as part of a small team, and contributing to a positive community space.
About the Bike Library
The Bike Library loans refurbished bikes free of charge to the community. Bikes are donated by Canberrans, restored by volunteer mechanics, and shared with people who need them most. The program supports refugees and people facing disadvantage, promotes cycling access, and keeps bikes out of landfill.
About the role
Bike Library Coordinators work as a team to support Bike Library sessions. We currently have 3 Coordinators who attend when available and we are looking for another Coordinator available to attend Tuesday sessions. When rostered on, the time commitment is around 3–4 hours.
When and where
The Bike Library operates at Margaret Hendry School:
Tuesdays, 10am–1pm
First Saturday of each month, 10am–12pm
Key responsibilities include:
Facilitate bike loans to clients, including helping them fill out the online form.
Ensure all volunteers at the Bike Library record their hours on the online form.
Work alongside the Bike Library Mechanics to ensure processes run smoothly and WHS is maintained.
Skills and qualifications required:
Holds a valid WWVPC or willing to obtain.
Enjoys working with people.
Can communicate clearly and kindly, even when language barriers exist.
Organised and comfortable recording information using basic digital tools.
Likes being part of a team and helping things run smoothly.
