Cycling Without Age: Right to Wind in Your Hair

Cycling Without Age helps older, less mobile Canberrans enjoy a breath of fresh air and the wind in their hair.

On Saturday, 29 November, Pedal Power hosted free rides in our Danish trishaws, pedalled by our volunteer pilots. Some would say we felt a little too much wind in our hair that day, but the breeze didn’t stop us from taking a relaxed ride around Lake Ginninderra. In fact, the determination of our pilots made the chilly morning feel surprisingly cosy.

Despite the weather, the heart of the event shone through. Riders chatted with volunteers, swapped stories from their younger cycling days, and enjoyed the simple joy of moving slowly through a beautiful place. Connection across ages, backgrounds, and experiences is exactly what this program is about, and this weekend really brought that to life.

What’s next?

We’re planning our next Cycling Without Age session for late January. Bring an older parent, friend, or grandparent who would love a peaceful ride around Lake Ginninderra. It’s the perfect chance to slow down, reconnect, and make memories together. More information will come out early next year!
