Volunteer Opportunities: Bike Library & Canberra Marathon

Pedal Power is inviting volunteers to get involved in two rewarding opportunities this autumn, whether you’re looking for a regular role or a one off way to contribute.

Bike Library Coordinator (3 hours per week) 🚲

We are looking for a reliable, organised volunteer to support the smooth running of our much loved Bike Library.

About the role
Bike Library Coordinators work together to support loan sessions, assist community members, and keep records organised. The role is practical, social, and community focused, with a time commitment of around 3 to 4 hours when rostered.

When and where
📍 Margaret Hendry School

  • Tuesdays, 11am to 2pm

  • First Saturday of each month, 10am to 12pm

The Bike Library loans refurbished bikes free of charge to people who need them most. The program supports refugees, improves access to cycling, and keeps bikes out of landfill.

Canberra Marathon Festival Volunteers (one off)🏃

We’re also calling for volunteers to be part of the 2026 Canberra Times Marathon Festival. This is a fantastic way to experience the buzz of race weekend while directly supporting Pedal Power.

For every volunteer, Pedal Power receives $50, helping fund our community programs.

Event dates

  • Saturday 11 April: 10 km, 5 km and Kids Race

  • Sunday 12 April: Half Marathon and Marathon

Roles include

  • Drink stations

  • Course marshals

  • Finish line support

  • Event village assistance

Shifts available

  • Friday 10 April: 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm

  • Sunday 12 April: 5:00 am to 12:00 pm or 6:30 am to 1:30 pm

Volunteer with friends, bring your family, or come along solo and meet the community.
