Volunteer Spotlight: Meet Our New Bike Library Coordinator

Welcome to Pedal Power ACT’s new Volunteer Spotlight, where we recognise the incredible work of our volunteers and celebrate their achievements. To launch this new section, we’re excited to introduce our fantastic Bike Library Coordinators: Shantanu, Rhi and Sri.

Our new coordinators have shared short introductions below so you can get to know them.

Shantanu is an avid cyclist, trekking enthusiast and does architecture for paying bills (he’s a passionate architect as well!) He specialises in the conservation of historic buildings, and has recently moved to Australia to experience life in the southern hemisphere. Prior to moving to Australia, Shantanu worked as a Heritage professional in London for a decade, and a conservation architect in India prior to that. He is fluent in Hindi, Tamil, Marathi and manages to speak some Malayalam and Gujarati.

Ei Pwint Rhi Zan (Rhi) is a social entrepreneur with experience in social enterprise development and community-based initiatives. She is the co-founder and one of the directors of a children’s storytelling social enterprise that uses education and creativity to support positive social change. With a background in consulting and entrepreneurship education, Rhi is keen to deepen her practical experience and continue growing as a social enterprise practitioner. She is particularly interested in learning from established community organisations and strengthening her skills in operations, governance, and impact delivery. Rhi brings cross-cultural experience from Myanmar, Southeast Asia, and Australia, and values inclusive, community-centred approaches. Outside of work, she enjoys cycling, swimming, and exploring local Canberra communities.

Sri moved to Canberra, Australia, in January 2026. By profession, Sri works as a recruitment consultant with experience in connecting people, building relationships, and supporting diverse communities. Passionate about sustainability, active transport, and community wellbeing, Sri enjoys running, cycling, and playing chess in free time, and is excited to contribute time and skills as a volunteer with Pedal Power ACTwhile supporting Canberra’s active travel community.

The role of our Bike Library Coordinators is to work as a team to support Bike Library sessions (Tuesdays from 11am-2pm and the first Saturday of each month from 10am-12pm at Margaret Hendry School in Taylor). When rostered on, the time commitment is around 3–4 hours, and the responsibilities include working in a team to facilitate bike library loans, communicating with bike library clients and recording key information and statistics on loans and donations.

We are still seeking 1-2 more Coordinators who can attend Bike Library sessions on a regular basis. If you are interested in joining our Coordinator team, please email membership@pedalpower.org.au to express your interest and please include if you speak any languages besides from English!
