Spokes and Spookiness at Yerrabi Pond

Canberra by Bike’s Halloween ride around Yerrabi Pond was a delightful celebration of community, colour, and cycling. Seventeen riders took part in the evening ride, including one young participant whose bike was still decorated from Pedal Power’s 50th anniversary celebration Family Cycle Picnic - a lovely surprise that added extra sparkle to the group.

Local Greens MLA Andrew Braddock joined the ride, along with several Pedal Power members, for a relaxed loop around the pond. With twinkling lights, great music and a few friendly ghouls, witches and other Halloween characters among the riders, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The flat, easy route made it accessible to riders of all ages and abilities, allowing them to enjoy the experience together.

The evening finished with some riders staying on to share pizzas, stories and laughter as the sky dimmed over the water.

It was a beautiful reminder of how cycling brings people together - through fun, friendship, and shared experiences on two wheels.

A warm thank you to Paris Lord, Canberra by Bike, for hosting such a lovely event. To find out about their upcoming rides and the next Handlebars of Happiness talk, visit Canberra by Bike.
