Upcoming Gundaroo Drive Works and Cycling Impacts

Pedal Power has been advised that major gas pipeline maintenance works at the Gundaroo Drive / Horse Park Drive intersection in Gungahlin will begin from Monday, 11 May 2026 and continue through to Saturday, 13 June 2026.

The works will require the closure of westbound Gundaroo Drive between Horse Park Drive and Pallin Street, with changed conditions for people riding through the area. Cyclists should expect detours, reduced speed zones, traffic controllers, construction vehicles, and temporary path changes around the intersection.

Importantly, the cyclist lane will remain open until Sunday, 10 May, following delays caused by forecast weather and outstanding civil works.

Works will involve excavation and gas pipeline repairs near the roadside verge and shared path network. Traffic management plans provided to Pedal Power indicate that temporary cyclist access will be maintained through the area where possible. Riders should allow extra travel time and take care around work vehicles and changing traffic conditions.

Detours and traffic management signage will direct road users around the closure, with major diversions via Mirrabei Drive and Anthony Rolfe Avenue. Additional signage and variable message boards will also be installed across the surrounding road network.

The affected area is shown in the contractor’s work zone map below. Pedal Power will continue to share updates as they become available.
